Welcome to ElleSolaire! Our mission is to empower women across West Africa through entrepreneurship and sustainable solar energy solutions. We believe that when women have access to clean energy and business opportunities, entire communities thrive. Together, we are building a brighter, more sustainable future for rural communities across West Africa.

How it started

Khady was met by ElleSolaire's founder in the Sakhagne village, in the district of Ndiago, department of Guinguinéo, in the Kaolack city, 200 km from the capital of Senegal (Dakar). Her story would transform the lives of an entire community, because in order to help Khady, ElleSolaire was created, now supporting more than 8,000 women in Senegal.

Our Mission

ElleSolaire is committed to empowering women in rural Senegal by providing access to solar energy and comprehensive entrepreneurship training. We believe that when women are empowered with the right tools and knowledge, they can transform not only their own lives but entire communities.

Through our programs, women gain access to clean energy solutions that enable income-generating activities, from small businesses to agricultural improvements. We provide ongoing support, training, and mentorship to ensure sustainable success.

Internet access in the senegalese rural areas

ElleSolaire launch Rural Smart Kiosk in Ziguinchor with free satellite internet access for local people. This projet aim to deliver reliable internet access for local communities in order to create local content and promote local generated incomes activities like farming and food processing. The first kiosque will be installed in the Fanda's professional training center. With this free signal, local students, entrepreneurs, households and educators will get access to the internet for training and entrepreneurship purposes. Two training academies are planned with local youngers associations to learn more about digital tools and the internet opportunities in rural areas. Specially in Casamance, this opportunity will serve a lot to democratize training opportunities and jobs creation opportunities specially for Youngers. In next March, the local and the international digital ecosystem will be invite to discover the Starlink deployment in the Casamance rural areas with ElleSolaire. Stay tuned in our digital chanel to know more about this amaizing and innovative projet.

The Transformers

Together, they transformed ElleSolaire into an innovation hub for developing rural areas in Senegal. From 2018 to 2023, ElleSolaire was still known as a social enterprise supporting women in rural areas in creating income-generating activities through the sale of solar kits. Since taking the helm in 2023, Abdoulaye and Ephie have transformed ElleSolaire into a massive innovation machine, creating projects ranging from providing internet access in rural areas to create job opportunities for and by women, to building mobile, multifunctional solar kiosks in rural areas. In addition to supporting the structuring of women's groups in rural areas to enable them to achieve better economic performance, the duo Ephie and Abdoulaye have successfully mobilized local development actors such as ENABEL, GIZ, and Eiffage Concession, as well as international actors like the Internet Society Foundation and WomenWin. Their ambition is to create West Africa's first innovation factory, focused on generating business opportunities for women and youth in rural and peri-urban areas. Together, this duo represents the new generation of local development actors whose ambitions know no bounds.

Internet access through solar energy

ElleSolaire launch an innovative project in the southern Senegal to reduce digital gap in the rural areas. By building and installing a kiosk powered by solar energy and working as a wifi hotspot in the rural areas, ElleSolaire create a multiple usage tool that can improve the lives of billion people in the rural areas in Casamance. The first prototype of this innovation is dedicated to the technical school of Fanda (Niaguis, Ziguinchor), where students, teachers and local people can access to the internet for education and news purposes. The kiosk itself will run small income generated activities kept by women entrepreneurs. Several activities will be run in the kiosk as shop, digital services, mobile money transfert, local food processing.... 30 kiosk will be run between 2025 and 2026 in 30 separate rural areas, to play a key role of reducing digital divide in the rural areas.

Financial education in peri urban areas

After 2 years supporting the women entrepreneurs building small incomes generated activities in peri-urban areas in Dakar, Ellesolaire launch another academy to train women on how to apply best practices in saving and investing their money. During two days, 70 women learned and practice with an experimented team animating 4 workshops. This academy was sponsord by Eiffage Concessions one of the most valuable local partner for ElleSolaire academies.

ElleSolaire Academy in Casamance

In April 2025, ElleSolaire was in Kolda, in Sedhiou and in Ziguinchor to train 160 women in entrepreneurship through renewable energy. During 15 days, the ElleSolaire team deploy 5 academies in Dinguiraye(Kolda, Medina Yoro Foulah), Coumbacara (Kolda, Mampatim), Goudomp (Sedhiou), Niaguis(Ziguinchor), Elinkine (Ziguinchor, Oussouye). During theses training sessions, women learned about leadership, solar energy usage to create income generated revenues, marketing and after sales services. After these training activities women will start new income generated activities by selling solars products to their communities. ElleSolaire team will follow those activities to make sure they are running fine to validate their knowledge they acquire during the academies.
